Sorry for the late reply but I've been really busy recently. For the turbulence intensity I would suggest using around 5-10%. With regards to the target mass flow rate test it to see if the solution remains stable and if not I wouldn't use it. Neil |

Thanks for your reply and don't worry... in the meantime I was working on a side project for a swirl burner (...still RSM!)! And I'm trying to get OpenFOAM installed on an idle machine too. I found some interesting posts in the forum and I'd like to have a try... Do you have any experience about it? As for the pressure outlet b.c. for the mixing station I would like to try a procedure: 1. Turn on the target mass flow rate option for few iterations, in order to have a first value for the pressure at the outlet; 2. Turn off the option and correct the pressure value with the new estimate. I hope this could help..! With regards to the turbulence intensity I will use the values you suggested. I have some experience with modelling reactive flows in cyclone combustors for which the case setup is similar and I can try and help out but there are bound to be more experienced people on this forum.

But this sounds very similar to the side project I'm working on!! And I guess your experience is much more than what I deserve! ;) Anyway I'm still trying to complete installation correctly, because I don't have experience with Linux OS! Meanwhile, I'm learning something more about Ubuntu! But I will share willingly anything about it as far as I get a functioning OpenFOAM on my machine..! ...let's hope! Now I'm still meshing some alternative designs for testing them on Fluent as usual. After that I will have to select a design for prototyping ad testing at full industrial scale. And then, when I will have some experimental data, I hope to compare Fluent and (hopefully!) OpenFOAM predictions on the same mesh exported from Gambit. I think it will be really interesting!
