soild-liquid mixing
Hi, I am simulating the liquid-solid flow using FLUENTin in stirred tanks using impeller. My problem is that when I go to the multiphase model, it does not read the solid material and how to build geometry (for soild) in gambit?. How can I make it reads the solid phase in the multiphase model? Thanking you for any help regarding this problem.

Which multiphase model are you using? I suppose you are dealing with solid particles and running Eulerian model. In that case you don't need any mesh for the solids.
You can create a new fluid, give it the solid density, and a very high viscosity and name it your "solid". In the phases window, give the particle diameter for the solids. Initialize with the known solids volume fraction, and you can now run the simulation. |
thanks.
I don't need any sapce or volume for soild in built geometry in gambit???!! this is gepmetry of built in gambit http://rapidshare.com/files/292889214/rush.JPG.htmlhttp://rapidshare.com/files/292889214/rush.JPG.html http://rapidshare.com/files/292889214/rush.JPG.html |
What form are the solids? Are they particulate?
Normally you don't need a mesh for the solids (unless you are doing conductive heat transfer, or deforming solids). You can create a 'super viscous' liquid and use it as your solid. you can define the solid particle diameter and the initial volume fraction (in Initialize panel) and then run the simulation. |
They are particulat.I have not any haet transfer or deforming soilids. It means only in fluent i define solid??

You are right. You don't need to define these solid particles in Gambit. Your geometry is fine. You can define the fluid and solid in fluent and continue.
