Hi,

I am have been doing simulation of Flow in Orifice meter. The discharge coefficient I get using Fluent for Re of 40000 is around 0.66. The actual discharge coefficient is around 0.61. I tried refining the grid in the shear layer and modifying the solver, but I couldnt get it below 0.65.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards Murali.

Hi!

You have a very low Re number. What turbulence model are you using?

You shoul also know that cfr (RANS) will usually not give you exactly the same reults as experiment. What you should worry about is if your reults have the same trend as experimental ones (offset between cfd and experiment is very common)

Best regards

MATEUS

Hi
I am also trying to verify the orifice meter problem (with pressure tappings located at D length units upstream and D/2 length units downstream using IDEAS-ESC software. I also overestimated the Cd by 0.07 (I got 0.68). When I am trying to refine the mesh, I am getting an error saying
"Fatal Overflow in linear flow solver".
How to address this problem?
