Computing and setting reference area in journal

Hi all,

I'm working with Fluent, and I have loads of 3d-objects that have to go through (almost) the same analysis (design optimisation).
I've gambit setup to mesh everything automatically, set the zones etc. I also have a fluent-journal that sets up everything in fluent so that I only have to load the case and data into the cluster an let it run.
But one thing is missing - the reference area is not set. The projected area is not the same for each object, so I somehow need the journal to calculate the projected area and put it in the reference area field.

I guess it must work with ti-surface-projected-area somehow... can you give me a hint?

I need the projected area for surface 6 with a resulution of 0.001 and vector 0 0 1 set as reference area.

Thanks a lot,
H.

morphing within Fluent

Hello,
usually during a shape optimization the reference area stays the same and the baseline value of the original configuration is used as the reference value.
I have faced similar problems for shape optimizations performed using RBF Morph, an add-on for Fluent that I have developed during a consultancy for a F1 Top Team (www.rbf-morph.com).
However if you think that for your problem you need to adjust the reference area contact me at info@rbf-morph.com to discuss it privately.
