Hi guys, I need some advice on an adequate solver setting to simulate transient flow.

I’m trying to simulate a high-pressure pneumatic valve flow for 2 seconds, which is quite short.
The overall flow speed would not become over Mach 3.
Since some geometries are moving, a dynamic mesh would also be necessary.
Would there be any standard for setting a solver and schemes?

I’m trying to use a pressure-based solver and standard k-e turb model with a small time-step (1e-6 ~ 1e-7). Max iter would be a default, 20.

But, I’m concerned about using a pressure-based solver, which is implicit, when simulating such shot time transient simulation.

Any advice? Thanks for all.

The smaller the time-step, the more it makes sense to use a pressure-based solver over a density-based one. I've also used a pressure-based solver for Mach numbers greater than 5 and found no issues. I don't have any advice except to tell you that the pressure based solver works for transient problems.
