Contours of Velocity Magnitude

 February 10, 2010, 12:15 Contours of Velocity Magnitude #1 New Member   sed Join Date: Feb 2010 Posts: 19 Rep Power: 8 Hi What exactly will be reported by FLUENTS display----> Contours--->Velocity--->Velocity-Magnitude... Is it the sum of all the three velocity(x,y,z) components?...... what if the flow is only in one direction say Y and X=0 and Z=0 ? What exactly is then reported my Velocity Magnitude thank you nice day __________________ Life is not always converging ... but u can relax

 February 11, 2010, 06:13 #3 New Member   sed Join Date: Feb 2010 Posts: 19 Rep Power: 8 thank you max this explanation is very clear..... i can see Ux Uy Uz (X-Velocity,Y-Velocity etc...) distinctly .......i mean i can visualize these three components clearly with various contour levels and find velocity variations in my domain.......but when I switch to "Velocity Magnitude" in contour display option ...most of my domain shows deep blue color which is close or equal to 0 m/s...... Does this mean that i do not have any resultant velocity at the end? or doest it mean the resultant velocity is a result of your explanation above..... __________________ Life is not always converging ... but u can relax

I meant: modify upper scale limit (max value)
