Hello Dinesh,

Wood Gasification is interesting area for modelling. To proceed any further do read paper on same area by Di Blasi (2004) in AICHE journal. Secondly, sincere advice is estimate time available for you in your Undergrad Project, and plan accordingly.
There are several approaches to carry out Gasification modelling. One can study surface reactions over surface of wood (if you have decent reaction mechanism), or Porous Media approach where wood block assumed to be porous in nature, or by defining wood and gasifying medium in multiphase model. (Euler Granular model with species transport works fine with Solid - Gas reactions).
I strongly recommend that study the physics of your problem it first.

Thanks chetan for your valuable advice.
i have only two months left; i.e march and april
actually i did study fluent tutorials and carried out simulations, but results are very poor

Slover
Slover -Pressure Based
Formulation -implicit
Space -2D
Velocity Formulation -Absolute
Gradient Option -Green-Gauss Cell Based
Porous Formulation -Superficial Velocity
Multiphase
Multiphase Model - off
Energy -Energy Equation
Viscous Model
Model -k-epsilon (2 eqn)
k-epsilon Model -standard
Near-Wall Treatment -Standard Wall Functions
Species Model
Model -Species Transport
Reactions -Volumetric & Particle Surface
Options -Inlet Diffusion & Diffusion Energy Source
Turbulent -Chemistry Interaction -Finite-Rate/Eddy-Dissipation
Discrete phase model
interaction with continuous phase
number of continuous phase iterations per dpm iteration - 40
tracking parameters max no.of steps - 10000
length scale - 0.01m
drag law - spherical
Operation Condition
Pressure: Operating Pressure(pascal)-101325
Gravity: Gravity- Gravitational Acceleration Z(m/s2)=-9.8
Boussinesq Parameters: Operating Temperature (k)=288.16

i have specified 7 equations in the reactions tab, for wood-volatiles- air mixture properties
the first one is a default one
2. C + O2 = CO2
3. H2 + 1/2O2 = H2O
4. C + H2O = H2 + CO
5. CO2 + C = 2CO
6. CO + H2O = CO2 + H2
7. C + 2H2 = CH4
i have specified pre-exponential factor value: 1.3e+08
activation energy:140300 J/kgmol
are these values very small, or is there any method experimentally or analytically to determine these values for my wood material

please tell me if iam approaching the problem correctly
please do send me your email so that i could discuss the problem more elaborately.

regards,
Dinesh Babu
