Hello to all

I have been working on the CFD simulation of the natural gas flow in cyclones for more than 4 monthes. I am trying to predict the optimum design parameters of the cyclone in terms of separation efficiency and pressure drop.
I encounter to a problem in analysing the results of the simulations. I have got no valuable decrease in the separation efficiency for 1-4 micro meter solid particles (2700 kg/m3) when diamtere of the dust outlet increases even when the cone shape was replaced with a straight pipe.

The inlet velocity is 8.6 m/s and the only different design parameter in the simulated cyclone in comparison to other cyclones is that there is a larger space between the bottom of the vortex finder pipe and start point of cone shape.

I used th fluent CFD Package with different turbulence model but still the problem is not fixed.

RSM Model
Pressure disc. = Presto
Momentum disc. = QUICK
Turbulence and Reynolds Stress disc. = Second order

k-e model
Pressure disc. = Presto
Momentum disc. = Second order
Turbulence disc. = Second order

How do u think about this problem?

Thanks a lot

Best Wishes
