how to setup 2 computers for parallel fluent?

I have a computer (Core 2duo and 2GB ram) and my operating system was Windows 32 Vista.
I want to have a new PC with 4 cores. I want to parallel them. is it possible or not? if it is possible, how I can do that?
how many ram I need for second one (4 cores)?
note: I want to work on radiation modeling specially on S2S and DO.

Yes it is possible to use both of them with Fluent. As a rule of thumb if you use a 32 bits operating system 2G of RAM per processor should be enough.

If you will use a 64 bits operating system then you can use more RAM per processor, put as much as your motherboard and your pocket supports.

and how I connect them? is it need to use special software or program or just by LAN?

1. In my opinion, how much RAM you need depends on how big your case is. Do you need double precision solver? Double precision solver needs about twice as much RAM as single precision solver.
2. If you get a quad-core computer with more than 4G RAM, you will need 64bit OS to manage it. 32 bit OS can only handle 4G RAM. And you usually get much less than 4G using 32 bit OS.
3. You probably won't be able to parallel 32 bit Fluent with 64 bit Fluent. So you either have to stick with 32 bit OS since you already have Vista 32 bit, or you have to install 64bit OS on both computers.

5. Before you even try to set it up, you need a network DOMAIN for the communications between your computers using MPI ( message passing interface). In a simple workgroup setup, it simply won't work. That means you either have to setup a local domain by yourself using a server OS, or ask someone to do it for you. This sever doesn't have to be fast (as long as it can run the server OS) since you don't really need it after setup the domain but it better be a dedicated server (meaning a 3rd computer). What you do need is a server OS such as windows server 2003, 2008 or 2008 R2, instead of a "client" OS such as XP, Vista or 7, for the setup a local domain. Setting up a domain is not hard. But it may not worth the efforts if you only have two computers to do the actual work. It is more useful if you have a cluster of computers.

If you have a quad-core machine you don't need to connect anything, Fluent knows how to use all 4 cores is you start a parallel version.

And yes 8GB will be nice for a quad-core machine, but you will also need a 64 bits OS !!!
