inverse heat transfer problem

Dear all

I wish to solve a 1D heat conduction problem inside a copper block.

the bottom end has constant heat flux boundary condition and the top end has a variable heat transfer coefficient.

i have measurement data for transient temperature profile at two interior points.

How do i estimate the transient heat transfer coefficient?

I understand there is no direct option available in fluent.but even if I am supposed to write UDF what is the approach and how to go about the same?

other wise are there any open source codes available for solving inverse problems?

regards
Siva

Hi,

i have the same doubt as you. Take a look at http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/mai...-possible.html .

Rogerio. :(

inverse heat transfer

hi all, i have a square with heat generation rate inside that, i have three boundary conditions with constant temperature, but i dont have heat flux from one of walls, i want to simulate this problem in Fluent, could you please any one explain me??

You need to know all your boundary conditions.

inverse heat transfer

i have three wall with constant temperature 300k that is determined but the output heat flux from one wall is unknown, i have temperature within the enclosure that is 400k.

You need to know all your boundary conditions. End of story.

you should modify your domain
for example add solid attached to 4th wall or some fluid zone, depending on your case
so you will get other boundaries with known boundary conditions
