Wind turbine blade meshing

Attachment 2965Hi all,

can somebody tell me the strategy of meshing the wind turbine blade in Gambit. I don't wanne use Tgrid/Hybird to mesh it automaticly. What I want to do is using Hex element to cooper the volume. But I don't know how to do that. I put my model and other people's models into the attachment to make that straightforward. sorry for my poor English

you have to split your domain into mappable subvolumes. Check your left picture, you can see the volume decomposition.
Gambit's tutorial 7 may be helpful (Modeling Flow in a Tank)

Hi MaX

Thanks for your tips, I would try the Gambit's tutorial 7 firstly. About the left picture, I still don't know how the sector face can be meshed by using mapped quad. Why when I mesh that face, Gambit only permit the way of pave.

Try to enforce the Quad -Tri Primitive schema

Hi mAx

I split the domain with three parts, the volume which contain the blade still can not be meshed by using the way of copper. I think the problem comes from I use the volume to subtract the blade. The other two volumes can be mesh by using cooper successfully. I don't know how to do know, can you give me a little help?

you need more splits around the blade.
Meshing hexa isn't easy at all, and you can forget meshing your geometry with just few splits.
You need to isolate and decompose volumes around your blade
you can upload your .dbs file on a share server I will try to do something

Thank you very much, I have put my model into the attachment. Because I have no idea how to decompose the volume, so sorry to bother you.

you can isolate your profile like that:Attachment 3013
Then you will be able to mesh them with your won hexa paremeters (eg: refinement).

Thank you mAx. I would try that block, by the way, is it meshed by gambit or ICEM, it looks like to mesh by ICEM, can you give me the link which the picture come from ?

it comes from your model (Gambit) ;)
