Hello,

I am going to simulate heat transfer between solid and fluid in fluent 5.4.8.The hot gas is flowing through soild wall. Now in my problem, the hot gas is turned off after the 10 seconds. Then hot gas again continue to flow through solid wall. After 20 seconds, the hot gas is again turned off.

Now I am interested in the temperature field of solid wall. Can I solve this problem in fluent5.4.8?

Would you like to give some advice?Thank you.

Hello

Yes you can made an unsteady CFD analysis, and register the change of temperature at the wall.

It looks to me that you are not familiar with CFD analysis, an analysis of this process requires a lot of knowledge of transport phenomena and also a considerable amount of time to learn how to set up your unsteady case in fluent.

Therefore, I suggest that you read the Fluent user manual related to unsteady simmulation in order that you get an idea of the capabilities of FLUENT to describe this process.

Turn on the radiation model(DO), select 4 for the number of iterations (right upper corner of the DO model's window)and leave everything else as a default, then turn on the continuty equation and the energy equation, from thr boundary conditions window change the surfaces which is gong to be in the convection region to a convection ssurfaces by assigning a heat transfer coefficent ( for air it is about 15 w/m^2.K) then do the rest of the operation as usual. thanks

Hi alex in this moment i'm doing a cfd simulation that involve both convection and conduction phenomenon, and i have a question about coupled in the boundary condition, i don't know what it means
