Turbulent viscosity and shear rate
I'm wondering about the connection between turbulent viscosity and shear rate.
I'm using a non-linear model to define the viscosity of a fiber suspension. When the shear rate is about 200 a turbulent viscosity of 1 Pas should be used. According to the author of the doctoral thesis I've gotten the model from this should correspond to the turbulent viscosity of water.
However when I perform simulations with water the turbulent viscosity in the regions where the shear rate is 200 is about 1/10 of 1 Pas. So I wonder if someone knows the reason for this? Is it because my flow is different than his? I thought water would behave in the same way if the shear rate is the same.
