Patching a phase

Hi, I am trying to patch water phase in a vertical u-tube geometry but its not happening. I want water phase to be patched in the lower portion of the U-tube filling the lower legs to an extent, while air remains on the upper portion. Can anybody give me an idea, how to do it ?

in your mesher you need to define the volume you need to patch as separated continuum fluid domain.
Then in Fluent after you initialized your whole domain, you can patch the desired fluid region

Or, you could do it directly in fluent, by creating a region (bounded by minimum and maximum x,y,z coordinates) and then patching that region with the volume fraction of air or water.

To create the region: Adapt > Region

To patch: Solve > Initialize > Patch

Agree with Jayaprakash. One word to add:
click on mark button in the Region panel, do not click on Adapt button, then you'll get a register.

Hi guys. Thanks alot for your suggestions, i think the problem will be solved after applying them. If any of you guys can reply to the thread named "Heat transfer problem at nucleate boiling" then it would be great because thats a very big problem for me now a days.

Hi,may i know does patching a phase to a region only work in multiphase model?
