mixing plane model: too much backflow and does not converge

Hi Guys,

I am currently trying to setup a mixing plane model for an Axial flow Turbine model. Both the Stator and rotor have different number of blades at different stages. For example the stator has 4 blades in the 1st stage and 7 in the rest of the stages.

I was told by the ANSYS guys that i could extract a periodic volume even though the number of blades vary and use a mixing plane model to capture the interactions between the rotor and stator .

I have extracted the periodic volume and set up the mixing plane model in fluent. But when I run it see a lot of back flow at the rotor-stator interfaces (mixing planes) and the solution oscillates and never converges even after running for several iterations

My boundary conditions are as follows
velocity Inlet: 8.2m/s
Pressure outlet: 0Pa
pressure inlet-pressure outlet boundaries at the mixing planes

I would really appreciate any feedback on this.
Thanks

Were you able to find the solution to this problem? I am facing the same problem (reverse flow at the interface).
Thanks!
