I am going to model a chemical reaction instead of combustion, i.e esterification. Is it a necessary for me to compute the chemical reaction with udf? Or may I just using the reaction panel available in Fluent? Please help.

coalgas is on a distinguished road
you can use reaction panel, for reaction between acid and alcohol. UDF will be useful if you want to use customerised reaction rate equation oresle Fluent will calculate reaction rate with inbuilt models.

I have found that the chemical species used in esterification are not available in database. So, I define the individual properties of chemical species. Is it a necessary for me to define the properties of that mixture of chemical species? Can it be just ignored?

I need to define my own chemical species for reaction. Hence I need to define the properties of mixture. The properties of mixture are just for properties of mixture of reactants? Or properties of mixture of reactantsand products? Please help.

you need to define only properties of reactants. Properties of Mixture usually determined by various models by selecting appropriate options from Mixture panel. Mixture panel is the place where you should define your reaction and select species.
