Hi there. I am new to FLUENT, and need it for my final year thesis for engineering. I must verify experimental results, but my supervisor passed away suddenly, and there are now no lecturers at my university with any FLUENT knowledge.

I have an .iges file of the board with attached fins, and when opened in Inventor 2009, is a solid. But when imported into FLUENT, there are a bunch of surfaces missing.

And from there, I have no idea how to do an analysis of the drag forces and flow around the fins. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. My thesis is due Friday, so I am stressing big time. Not due to laziness, but unforseen problems.

My email is 14773724@sun.ac.za and my Skype name is GonubieSteve. Any help will be awesome!

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm in the same position as you were a couple of years ago now!
How did you get on?
I'm not doing the whole surfboard, just the fins and altering some leading edge designs. Fluent takes a bit of getting used to eh?!
I've got to to the stage of setting up the solver and interpreting results but luckily I've got about 8 weeks to do it.
Would be great to see how you got on and how you managed it.

Cheers!

Tom
