solid combustion modeling

hi all

How can I model the regression of a combusting solid fuel ? i try modeling pyrolysis of solid fuel like wood. but i have problem to modeling this in Fluent.

i become happy if anyone help me

Hi there,
i think all of combustion (solid, liquid and gas) can be run if the phase is changed into gas. You can see it when you burn a solid/wood. there is thin gas layer above the wood. so i think you can use that for your simulation.

Regression of solid fuel combustion can be achieved by multiphase flow modelling, well its a one approach. For this purpose most probably you need to write UDf with macro DEFINE_HET_RXN_RATE. Before, starting multiphase modelling do seek some advice from the people working in this area, as it will take time to model it.

I would like to simulate the burning the solid fuel in FLUENT, but I do not know how. I read the comments but need more information. i would be thankful if you guide me.
