Well, actually it is possible to simulate fixed bed gasification with E-G model in Fluent. Here is one of my papers about this topic.

Well, your question has two answers, One- if you are using fluent, you are not able to choose E-G Model with steady-state solver ( i am not sure about V15).
Secondly, E-G model assumes particles are modeled as a continuous medium where all the quantities are assumed to be smooth functions of position and time. further you can refer : (& Governing equations) http://www.ansys.com/staticassets/AN...-ansys-cfd.pdf , I hope that helps.

Dear All,

I'm trying to simulate a desulfuration process in an horizontal fixed bed reactor using CaO as adsorber (porous media). My main problem till now is that mi "fixed bed" is not fixed and it moves while I run my simulation.
The way I use to let the CaO "fixed" was adapting a region and then patch it with the CaO, but it moves...

I'm using ANSYS FLUENT 14.5
Please help me out!

Thanks!

Hello Everyone
I was running simulation with a cylindrical which consist a reacting carbon bed were a mixture of gases (CO2, H2O and N2) are injected in the top and passes through the reacting bed.

I was trying to model it by using Eulerian (granular > fixed bed). Patching was done during the time of initialization for creating a fixed bed of carbon. After running simulation, I am getting products it means reactions was occurring but the fraction of carbon is not changing at all, but it should change.
I am not able to conclude from this, why it is happening. What should I change so that I will get the change in carbon fraction. Please give me some suggestions.

Biomass=> C+ H2+ CH4+ CO+ CO2+ H2O and then usual char reactions. Now for the biomass pyrolysis reaction, you can refer research papers. for char gasification you can refer to http://144.206.159.178/FT/158/20493/369881.pdf
This paper is simillar to your work, except fixed bed of char rather saw dust.

One more query, whats role of sand in your simulation? i mean bed of saw dust is nt sufficient for the biomass gasification?

Hi all, the post is quite old, but still if someone can help (its more of a chemistry related problem, but since u guys have done gasification modeling, hopfully u can answer)
i am doing biomass gasification modeling. the problem is I have an equation similar to Biomass=> C+ H2+ CH4+ CO+ CO2+ H2O

ie
Volatiles => aCO + b CO2 + cH2 +d CH4

i need to calculate a, b, c and d and also volatile composition. How can I do it.
thanks
