boundary types don't appear in boundary condition menu

hello,
i am cuurently starting to get familiar with fluent.
what i want to do:

- steady state flow from a face into 4 diverging pipes

i already created the geometry, a ([probably] poor) mesh, specified the continuum type as "fluid" and defined the boundary types (inlets and outlets). the export of the mesh out of gambit and into fluent worked fine. but here is the problem:

- when i want to define the boundary conditions i can not choose the faces (inlet and outlets) that i defined in the boundary types - menu in gambit prior.

--> how can i specify the boundary conditions at the designated in- and outlets and why can i not choose the faces that i defined in the boundary type section in gambit?

it might be a simple problem and i have to emphasize that i'm a greenhorn but maybe somebody can help.

the picture might illustrate the problem a little bit.

thanks, stimpy
