Hello,

I tried meshing a cylinder, by using the cylinder from 'geomtry', then I meshed it using Tetrahedral/ hybrid mesh using interval size 0.01
but the results were not so good

Can you tell me please, what's a best way to mesh a cylinder?
thank you

The easiest way is to create a cuboid within your cylinder, which effectively breaks your cylinder into 5 different volumes. Each of the volumes can be modeled using a rectangular mesh. Creation of a boundary layer at the periphery will be easier too.

Basically, looking at the cross section, you will see a circle with a square in it. The circular boundary should be split into four segments, the ends of which can connect to your square with a line.

Hope this helps.

Same thing, but make the diagonal of your square equal to the radius (not the diameter of the circle). This will create some space between the square and the circle. Connect the vertices of the square with the vertices in the circle.

PLease, I have only one vertice in each circle, do I create other vertices by using 'move/copy' and rotate it by 45?

I'm attaching an example. Hopefully this will make it clear.

If you're using gambit, can't you create a very thick boundary layer on one of the circular faces, then apply a cooper mesh to the whole thing? A plain cylinder should be extremely easy to get whatever kind of mesh you like.

hello
I think it is similar to what you did
only i have to change the height of the cube and put it similar to the the cylinder
but for the vertices I made a rotation from the center by 35 and 110

what do you think?
sorry , maybe i am asking silly questions, i am just a beginner on using gambit

how do you create boundary layer on one face, do you mesh first the face then apply the boundary layer, I also want to how it works?
THanks

I was thinking something more like the image attached. It can be accomplished by simply changing the direction of the boundary layer from one face to the other.

if we mesh the way you did, it means that the mesh is clustered near the edges of the circle, but in reality we want the mesh to be clustered neadr the cercles, in z axis
