Hi all,

I am trying to simulate coal gasification using species transport, finite rate chemistry/eddy dissipation model....

These are the reactions I want to include:
Heterogeneous Reactions:
C(s)+0.5O2 --> CO
C(s)+CO2 --> 2CO
C(s)+H2O --> CO+H2
Homogeneous Reactions:
Volatiles+O2 --> CO2+H2O
CO+0.5O2 --> CO2
CO+H2O --> CO2+H2
CO2+H2 --> CO2+H2O
H2+0.5O2 --> H2O

I have chosen coal-mv-volatiles-air as the mixture material...but having confusion over what species to include in the mixture /fluid /solid under the materials tab...I am using FLUENT 12.1 version...
could anyone please suggest on this...

thanks
Arnab

dear arnab,

i am prishor. i am doing the simulation of biomass gasification in Fludized bed. i am also stuck with the material entry in material panel. for the homogeneous reaction is it necessary to enter each reactant mixture in material tab?.
please help me if you have any idea.

thanks and regards,

I have modeled Fixed-Bed combustion by UDF programming in fluent. Fluidized bed may be like that.
Gorden and Silence017 like this.

dear saeed,
thank you for your kind reply.i have a doubt that where i should enter both heterogeneous and homogeneous reaction...
whether to enter homogeneous reaction in species transport panel and heterogeneous reaction in phase interaction panel only..
can you help me with your UDF so that i will get some idea about UDF for multiphase.

awaiting your valuable reply,
thanks and regards,
prishor

Please email me a sample paper to check and help in defining parameters.

okkay mr. saeed i will a sample journal paper in which they mention the coal gasification with some reactions and its rate constants.

thanks and regards,

In homogenous reactions do you know from what species consist of the volatiles? or do you define this volatiles with another option? i have a similar problem to the understanding of my fuel.
thank you

Dear msaeedsadeghi,
I am trying to write an UDF including Multi-step homogeneous reactions of coal combustion for my simulation on a furnace,but I am a newbie on UDF,can I have a communication with you for some help if you are available?
or you could offer me some simple UDF codes samples so I can learn it

Best wishes
