I have output a *.model file from CATIA, where gambit have such option to input the CATIA V4 *.model file. however when I input the file into gambit it shows "input file has units 'mm'." and the file cannot be input. Then I change the length unit into "m" in CATIA, the problem still remains. I need help to solve this thing.

did you click on the "fit to window" icon? (botto-right, up to the axis)
If you don't get any error in the transcript window, it should be successfull.
Don't you have any line about "Imported" right after "Input file has units "mm"?

PS: Gambit doesn't provide any unit, you will have to scale your geometry in the sover

For your reference, I always have minor problems with .model file and it is really annoying. You could perhaps try .stp (referred in Gambit as STEP), it is better in my opinion.

I have no problem in inputing .stp file, but the .model is still impossible to input.
after the "input file has units'mm'." it says "ERROR: translation failed", so it is not input into the gambit, I still don't know why.

Then import Step File, unless you already imported other geometry from catia and you want absolutely work with this kind of import.
can you provide the file, we could test the import

i'm just trying to mesh in CATIA and then input into gambit, it's a test with a simple model. if this fails then it is a dead end, i have to mesh in gambit or other software.
But i still want to know if anything is wrong with me or what, can anyone please create a simple .model file and try inputing into gambit to see if it works? thanks.

do you have fluent for catia, with mesher, pre- post-processing and solver integretated?

can you provide your .model file (or create a simple one)
I'll try to import it into gambit

How come you will NEED to mesh your geometries in CATIA anyway? It doesn't do you any good...

If you are trying to avoid switching softwere all the times, you can try ANSYS workbench. The work flow is user-friendly and it is easy connect pre, solver and post. But if you are trying to avoid the steps in Gambit, how come you need to import the file to it.... It's really confusing...

This is my workflow, it is simple but it is efficient after some experiences.
CATIA(V5): output .stp => Gambit: meshing and B.C. => Fluent

And here is mine:
ProE: output .stp => Gambit: meshing and B.C. => OpenFOAM
