parallel and serial

Hi guys,
I have a question on FLUENT parallel processing. When I start up my FLUENT, I selected parallel for the processing option and 4 processors in a local machine (Win64 workstation, running Ansys 12).

However, I did not do any manual or auto-partitioning on my model. In that case, when I solve my problem, is it still being solved through a parallel processing option or a serial option?

The reason I am asking is because I am developing UDFs and I am not sure if my UDF should be written for a parallel processing problem. My current UDFs has been having problems compiling. I do not get the successful compilation message as mentioned in the FLUENT UDF manual.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
EH

Hello,
you can simply check on Windows if your Fluent actually runs in parallel by launching Taskmanager, check the resources tab and you should see all your processors up.

If you intend to use a UDF with the parallel solver, you need to code this for parallelism (see UDF manual). Also the compilation must be done after you've launched Fluent parallel.
