2D import from STP to Gambit: ACIS Error 1015

I'm doing a 2D analysis of design work.
I tried to draw the 2D surface in XY plane, in Pro-E and converted it to STEP.. then I imported STEP to GAMBIT... It shows me an Error... ACIS Error 1015: Access Violation. I tried IGES too with same result. What is it? and Why it happens. can anyone suggest an alternative. Is that a problem with the way I exported. Is it not possible to import only 2D surfaces to GAMBIT. Plz help... Thnx a lot... |

I've noticed something rather odd with Gambit and directory names - if you try and import/load/save files which have a long absolute filename then it tends to throw a wobbler with that kind of an error message.
Solution for this is to set the working directory closer to where the file you're importing is, or work closer to the directory root. I have a feeling that it has a 128 character limit for filenames including the directory the file is in, or something similar to that. |

Are you sure you can generate 2d geometries with proE?
Are you not talking about sketch, instead? (or sheetmetal) As far as I know proE generates 3d volumes. So create your 2d sketch and extrude it for having a volume, then export step file. In gambit import the step file, delete the volume imported, but keep lower entities. Delete all the surfaces you don't need But if you really have 2d surface (I mean *.prt), I am interessted in the way you generated it.
