Fluent 6.3 export to Paraview 3.10

Hello,

this is my first posting

I'm currently working on a student research project using Fluent 6.3 and modelling a 2D numeric simulation. I've finished the simulations and now its time for the preprocessing. My academic advisor instuced me to use the open source program Paraview.

Here is my question:
Is it possible to read the .case and .dat files in Paraview 3.10? Or do I have to export every simulation dataset (case + dat) to "Ensight Case Gold"-format? If i have to export, is fluent able to export every information in just one file? It's possible to select for example pressure x, y, z direction and if you select all, fluent creates over 90 files.

Hi Silence19,

I'm also an absolutely newbie on Paraview. But what I can tell you is, that the direct Fluent Case import often creates problems. Better is to export the Fluent Data into Ensight with the variables you need.
Paraview is able to read in the case file with the links to the variables.

The only Problem I still have is, that the different Parts/ PID's in my model are not shown in the PipelineBrowser. So it is not possible to hide or color a single PID (or a group).
In the InformationTab of the ObjectInspector the PID are shown in the DataHierarchy. But it is not possible to select or modify one.
Has anyone an Idea?

If you don't require vector data, Paraview will read fluent .cas files as they are. However only scalar values are available to plot.

Dear friends

I m working with fluent 6 , I modelled a wave tank in fluent and I want to get time plot about the history of wave elevation at a specified point for example x=7.5,y=0.5 (in fluent I accentuate this matter again) in a wave tank by these features: L=15m, h=0.8m for a detemined time domain which is smaller than wave tank modeling time domain.

if any friend know, plz inform me about it and guide me.
