Combustion Issue

Hi,

I am trying to model a wood combustion process using species transport with a wood volatiles-air mixture. I am having a few troubles though.

First, what sort of mass flow rate should I use? I haven't been able to find any papers that show how much volatiles are being released from the wood.

Second, I am trying to implement the wood drying process by including an h2o<l> -> h2o equation, however, when I add liquid water to my mixture it doesn't appear in the species tab for the boundary conditions. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dear Dylan,

Regadring your second problem. When using species transport with "n" species your input contains only "n-1" species. The last one is added to have sum of concentrations =1, thus satisfying the mass balance. If you add the h2o<l> as last species it will not appear in your bc. It is a standard practice to have the species arranged in your mixture list such that the one with the highest concentration (usually N2) is the last on the list.

I cannot help you with wood combustion.

Good luck
