plane cutting complex geometry in the middle

Hello everybody,
I have got a pretty complex geometry (it's a vessel with an uneven surface and a bifurcation) which is not localized in one plane and I was wondering whether it is possible to create a plane like kind of a cut through the vessel. Due to the complex geometry I cannot just define a point and a normal vector, unfortunately. The plane should be arranged along the centerline of the vessel (I calculated the centerline by using vmtk). I tried many different things, but wasn't able to create such a plane.
Does anybody have an idea? Thanks a million for your help in advance!
Lilly
