hi,

I am doing a 2d analysis, the geometry consists of a container and two pipes.. i want to specify two different fluids(container and pipes)..

1) is it possible to do 2d analysis by specifying two different fluids.
2) If yes.. how should i proceed..

Please Hekp Me!!!

I am not sure what exactly you like to model - Is it a air-water system?

In any case, you can model multiple fluids using the Multiphase models of Fluent.
If you want to model immiscible phases, you can go for Volume of fluid method.
You can add the fluids from the Materials panel.
Also, you need to patch the geometry initially with the respective fluid in different zones.

thanks srjp...

it is actually an air-water system....
how do i patch the geometry initially with the respective fluid in different zones. i am meshing the model in ansys workbench

You need to create the separate zones (either as different fluid zones in gambit itself, or by marking the regions in fluent), and then patch with the required volume fraction of the different phases (solve>initialize>patch)

For example, if the pipe contains only air, you will assign air volume fraction = 1 in the pipe region.

After patching, make sure your phases are correct by viewing Contours of the volume fraction (before iterating).

Can you tell me which model should I use for solid-fluid multiphase.
I tried Eulerian it takes too much time.
Mixture model is giving separated surfaces and I want granular. i.e. air and dust particles

hi everybody,

I am trying to design a 2d model of double pipe heat exchanger in gambit and analyse that model in FLUENT. The problems that I am facing now are:

1): How to solve a double pipe heat exchanger in Fluent?
2): How to assign the solid material (Phase change material) in the annulus of double pipe and hot water in the inner pipe?
3): Do I have to activate the heat exchanger option from fluent or the multiphase option? I am experiencing errors when I enable the hat exchanger option in Fluent?

Kindly help me.

Thanx
