How to calculate Volatile Molecular Weight in Coal Combustion?
Hi All,
I am trying to model pure coal combustion in Fluent but I do not know how to calculate Volatile Molecular Weight (Kg/Kmol) using Proximate and Ultimate Analysis. I can calculate mass fraction of C, H, O and N in volatile but I do not know how to use them to get x,y,z and w in CxHyOzNw. Do you have any idea to help me out? Thanks |
Hi,
Molecular Weight of compound can be computed by multiplying the atomic weight (in atomic mass units) of each element in a chemical formula by the number of atoms of that element present in the formula, then adding all of these products together. |

Old post but who knows right?
Take a look at this topic from this work, very good one. Alganash, Blaid Sasi Abozeid (2015) Numerical investigation of the combustion processes of various combustion regimes. PhD thesis. |
