Hello everyone,

I have been working on a conjugate heat transfer problem for a setup with a constant heat source as the base and cylindrical fins on the top (as shown in the attached image).



Now I want to simplify the model to only forced convection and neglect the conduction happening in the fin body so that I can make it Quasi-3D for simplification.

I am not sure how I can do that in ANSYS Fluent and hence I would be grateful if anyone could let me know where to start.

change all boundary conditions of the fin body from coupled to heat flux, keep default value 0

Hello AlexanderZ,

I tried this, but the boundary conditions for the fin body was already the heat flux set to zero. I have another thing I can do. I want to make them uni-thermal fins, by having uniform temperature distribution in each of the fins so that I can make them Quasi-3D. Is this possible?

Please find attached images that explain what I have and what I intend to have.

I am really throwing random suggestion here: what if you increase a lot the heat conductivity of the solid? Iwould blindly try it but I am not sure about it

Hey LoGaL,

That could help, but I would not want to do that because I want the results to be comparable to the 3D results. My aim is to just make this Quasi-3D by a few assumptions. Changing the conductivity would be a big change which would not be of any use to me.
