Hi everyone,

I've been working around this hard-linking thing for a week and have not found any closure.

I'm modelling a 1/6 section tank in GAMBIT and the tank has some spheres inside (cut in the inner faces).

My problem is more or less the same with this guy posted here http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...periodics.html 10 years ago.

As for me, the loop orientations are always incompatible to each other so the meshes are extremely skewed, and it ain't pretty.

Anybody could help? This is really confusing me. Any comment will be appreciated.

Hi, Max.

Originally my problem has rather more complex geometry, for simplicity, I down-scaled my problem to:

another angle:

Problem A:
I want to apply the periodic boundary on these faces (so I can apply the rotational periodic in FLUENT later):

and

Then, I start to hard link the faces:

and

(you may notice the loop orientation)

and then, mesh successfully:

Let's say that problem A is solved.

Problem B:
But, when I tried to do the same thing to the sphere at the center
hardlinking:

(you may notice the orientation is reversed from problem A)

The meshed face is highly skewed:

I understand that this happened because of the loop orientation between Problem A and B is reversed, and when I tried to apply the reverse orientation radio button, the hard-linking just didn't work.

I don't know how to work around this problem since I cannot change the orientation.

I hope I explained the problem more clearly, please let me know your suggestions.

yep, I'm using imageshack, maybe I should try to move it to another hosting. Anyhow, you can see the pics by right-click -> open image in new tab

you can reply with "Go Advanced", and then upload pictures on cfd-online
