Boundary Layer Transition

Is it true that Fluent cannot calculate boundary layer instability and transition? I have read this in a few places but a few of them mention CFX being able to handle turbulent boundary layers and that it may be implemented in Fluent eventually. I am not particularly interested in modelling the boundary layer properly but I would like to talk about this in a paper I am writing. Does anyone know more on this or know of any papers I can reference?

Fluent can easily handle laminar / turbulent boundary layer transitions

Two models are availabe for laminar to turbulent transition : Walter's three equation model and menter's 4 eq SST transition model. First one is based on physical reasoning and second one is based on correlations, so in some situations physical reasoning may be wrong and in other situations correlations may not be valid.
