I am using Gambit for creating 3Dmesh round a wing , I need a help for creating this mesh . I tried to mesh edges, faces and then volumes. This method worked for volumes which does not contain wing. for the volume which contains wing this method fails...Why???!!!

Can any one send me a steps or advise?

Greast Thanks

There is a gambit tutorial for meshing an airplane geometry (half section). Maybe that will help you.

you can use triangle to mesh all the face of volume.Note:divide many vertices on leading edge and trailing edge of the wing.then, you can use Tgrid to smooth the mesh. You can email to me ro have more info.I am going to graduate from Univesity and my thesis is "Flow over an 3D airfoil using gambit and fluent..""

Dear aerosapce_iist@yahoo.com, I can't email to u. You can mesh your foil in gambit and then u use fluent, set the condition in fluent e.g. define model(solver,viscous,..).In gambit, u set the bounary condition for faces(velocity inlet, pressure outlet, symetry, ..) to set the value of boundary condition to solve...The residual u use in Fluent is about 1e-5. after about 2500 iteration, the solution converges anh u will have the pressure.I send u apic of wing that I have done.hope that I will help u.

I am working on" Flow over 3d wing with sinusoidal leading edge", but i coudnt get a good volume mesh in Gambit because of sharp trailing edge...
In next attemp, i joined the last two points of airfoil with straight line, but the 3d Boundary layer resulted in highly skewed elements.

I wud be glad to see your work, it might help me...looking forward to hear from you.

Thank you.

Hello Quynh Giao,

Today, I've just found your post here. It was posted over 4 years ago. However I hope you still work with CFD now! ^_^. Therefore, I would ask your email to discuss with you about this topic.
Thanks you so much!

Nguyen Van Trieu.
