Operating pressure and reference location?

Hey guys can you explain what the operating pressure and reference location does?

Could you tell me what my operating pressure and reference location would be for my system.

there is a central inlet at a pressure of 3300 PSI and 2 outlets at the same height level at a pressure of 3200 PSI on the either side of the inlet. THE INLET AND OUTLETS ARE SEPARATED by the inlet tube walls which goes 3.5m deep in a tank.

Inlet dimension 0.3m dia outlet dimensions 0.1m each or subject to change a bit.

Please let me know what my op pressures will be and the reference location?

Hi Abhijeet,
Generally you specify the operating pressure and location at a point within the domain where yu know the pressure. This needs to be specified only if you use pressure inlets with a pressure outlet. If you use a mass flow/velocity inlet then the reference location is not important.
I hope this answers your question.

Luke

Thanks a lot Luke

Thank you for your help.
Also can you help me with another issue?
I have a a 2D version of the tank which is symmetrical about the y axis.
So I have created only half of it to decrease the cells and computation time.
As s result the inlet in the sketch is only half it's actual diameter. Do I mention full diameter in the hydraulic diameter? Or only half the actual diameter?

Thanks
Abhijeet

use the whole dia to calculate hyd dia

What if i work in 2 fluids domain separated with a solid body. In 1 fluid domain, the outlet is atmospher with mass flow inlet. The other one use mass flow inlet and pressure outlet which is not atmosphere.

Where should i put the operating pressure reference point?
