Unsteady flow and DPM
I want to study the behavior of the particle under the unsteady flow. Consider a situation where the flow through a pipe in pulsatile in nature, say at the inlet to the pipe, the velocity is given as V=V_0*(1+sin(w*t)). If I solve the unsteady Fluent Solver, it will give the result, but what happens if I wants to solve the DPM along with this.
For, steady flow like V=V_0, first the eulerian flow field has to be solved, then we switch on the DPM. Now, how to implement this in case of pulsatile problem. Thanks in advance. |
hi
do you mean how to set up a pulsatile injection of discrete phase, or just to couple any injection to a pulsatile eulerian phase? regards |
1) Get your solution converged in Transient form.
2) Turn on your DPM and then click on 'unsteady particle tracking' under the DPM setup. Solve for further time periods. This will solve particles alongside your momentum, etc equations. |
Dear kingjewel1
Thaks for your reply. Once I solve the pulsatile eulerian then if i turn on the DPM, then how the fluent will take the same flow solutions for Lagrangian tracking of the particle? |
Dear doronzo
Thanks for the reply. I wants to couple the injection with the pulsatile flow. |

Models>DPM>click unsteady particle tracks and solve the particles at the same time as the flow equations. You could even do this right from the very beginning but I'd allow at least one cycle to elapse before you did. |
