I have problem with dam-break problem setting too!

Hi everybody,

I want to simulate dam-break problem in ansys-fluent, but I don't know how to define the water zone and how to separate it from air zone at initial condition. I would be thankful if somebody tell me what to do. I made a dambreak mesh in Gambit with 2 zones, the first zone for water and the 2nd for air. I defined the external boundary conditions, but about the interface between air and water I made it "interior". when I ran the setup in fluent nothing occured and water was still there, not falling.

PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS.

Thanks in advance.

i don't use Gambit. but initializing your "ZONES" with water or air is done in FLUENT. and not in the pre-proccesing. Your need to have a normal grid. with two bodies -as they are called in ICEM- that's it. then in fluent you will associate the bodies with their materials... hope it can help
