The usual shock tube: need some insight!

Hi!

I'm usually looking and searching way longer before posting questions, but I'm so confused about this I don't know how to tackle the problem. It seems everything I do, I don't do it like I'm supposed to.

I'm carrying out adiabatic shock experiments and would like to have an idea of the velocity/pressure fields inside the tube.

Thus I started with the geometry (simple 1m long tube, 1cm Diam). Than I thought I could, through the mesh program, divide it into two sections/cells. Then I'd assign thermodynamic properties to each, select the physics and pretty much launch the calculations. But I can't seem to be able to create cells. All I can do is create nammed selections (walls only).

Would anyone be able to give me some insight? Detail out the main steps to such a calculation? Lead me to some tutorial?

Thank you very much for your time!
