Bios acces to a dell computer

Hi there
The place where i work, gave me a workstation. The problem it is on windows and i use linux software.
I decide to put a virtual machine on the workstation because it s the most convinient and some other people work sometimes on it and use windows software.
But i got a problem with an option : vt-x how is not unable in the bios

And the joke start when for access to the bios i got the message :

Quote:

an unsupported display has been detected this will prevent the system from entering bios

The cable for the screen are special so i can't change the screen... so it lead me to two solutions :

- to get acces to the bios via windows....
- try to install ubuntu with wubi ...

somebody got any idea for solving this problem?

Can't you hook up a different display/cable temporarily so you can go into the bios and do what you want? That sounds really weird by the way...

Nope i only got one cable. So it is not possible to do it... I really can't understand that a computer that expensive can't allow to access to the bios because of the screen...

Greetings to all!

@gregjunqua: You can use CPU-Z to figure out which motherboard you've got.
If by any change the motherboard is made by Supermicro, then you can use IPMI and configure some BIOS stuff through their software interface: http://www.boston.co.uk/technical/20...o-for-you.aspx
With any luck, even if the motherboard isn't Supermicro, it might have IPMI and you can search for the respective software provider.

Hi,
Have you checked if there is an onboard graphics card? I once had a similar problem which was solved by connecting the display to the onboard graphics instead of the additional pcie one. this step made the bios accessible. Maybe this could be a solution here ...

The problem is i don't have cable, even the adaptator need an adaptator...
so i don't know how to fix this problem,

For fix it the university gave me access to the cluster, but i am non root and i need to install dependencies.
For some reasons the administrator told me that he would not change anything on the cluster (tell me that the server could crash (I got some serious doubt about it)).
So if somebody know how to install package without roots access ... I try several but seems don t work...

I am tired to use my own computer and wait 12-24hours for one run.
