Dear mates,

I need to know about a relatively old processor: NEC SX-6, a vector processor with 8 cores.

How does it do good compared with a core i7 4770K Intel processor? Are they even comparable?!

Please share your experiences with me.
Thanks.

A bit of google

floating point:
core i7 4770K =177 Gflops see http://www.pugetsystems.com/blog/201...rformance-493/
Nec SX-6 = 8 Gflops see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NEC_SX-6

memory bandwidth:
core i7 4770K = ~ 32Gb/sec see http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/2014/...swellrealworld
Nec SX-6 = 32 GBs see http://crd-legacy.lbl.gov/~oliker/papers/CCPE05.pdf

Thank you Derek,

Actually, I had seen the numbers you indicated above, but I needed to know about a realistic simulation which has utilized the NEC SX-6!
I have a LES simulation with about 8M grid points. Someone with similar conditions to my case has reported that their simulation time took 36 hours, using four NEC SX-6 processors.
How much a core i7 4770K can improve my simulation in terms of simulation time(compared to 8-cores NEC SX-6)?! Any idea??

Thanks
