It is all right for small CFD problems if you really can not afford anything more expensive. However you should switch to a Z170 mainboard and faster RAM, at least 3000MHz. It is possible to get this combination for about the same price. If you are familiar with overclocking the Core I5-6600k is definitely worth the extra money.
The next step up the ladder would be the X99 platform with a Core I7-5820k and 4 DIMMs if you can afford it. |

thanks for your reply
i'm beginner for this thing so i will be occupied with doing to learn those cfd applications. i searched a little bit about i5 cpu's comparisions and saw there is not much difference between them. This is site i talked about http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/502...5_i5-6500.html in my country; price range is wide between in that two cpus but if i buy a z170 mobo and i5 6500 after a while i can upgrade my cpu to i7 6700k |

With all the built-in safety mechanisms nowadays it is rather difficult to damage a CPU with moderate overclocking provided a proper power supply and adequate cooling. However, you should read some of the overclocking guides first so you know what you are doing.
The video I linked here might be a good starting point for beginners: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/har...tml#post575046 |
