Hello guys,
I am running a 2D transient simulation which contains 15000 cells. Since the mesh is small, increasing the processors does not help much and I want a fast CPU. I have been back and forth between a workstation with Xeon 5680 and i7 2600k which can be overclocked to 5 GHz. Does anyone have an idea which one is better? Thank you. Renold |

Just a similar comparison from a 2mio cells StarCD v4 calculation:
X 5570 (1 core = 148.6 sek , 2 cores = 88 sek) i7-2600 (1 core = 89.5 sek , 2 cores = 62.8 sek) Last edited by JBeilke; January 27, 2011 at 13:25. |
