Hello community,

I do some simulations in an artificial homogeneous isotropic turbulence where k and eps are given. Does anyone know, how to calculate the turbulence intensity out of these values?

Thanks so long.

You can just take a look at Fluent manual

6.2.2 determining the turbulence parameters

Relationships between the turbulence quantities

e.g. here http://jullio.pe.kr/fluent6.1/help/html/ug/node178.htm

Thanks for that link. My problem is, that in a homogeneous isotropic turbulence the average fluid velocity is 0? That means I cannot calculate the turbulence intensity with the given formulas. Does anybody know, how to solve my problem. Or maybe I am wrong.

Could you tell more about details of your simulation?

If you do not have a reference speed, you could derive "reference speed" from the average energy flow per unit mass through the system.

I am simulating particle collisions using a Lagrangian code. The fluent is just given by k and eps in the domain. The local fluid velocity for particle tracking is calculated using k and eps by a langevin dispersion model. For characterising the turbulence I want to give the turbulence intensity.
