Default ADI-SOR relaxation parameter

Hi, I have an ADI code which uses a relaxation parameter of the fashion:

T_new = T_old + w*(T_new-T_old)

w=relaxation parameter

This line is added after each sweep has been done: on rows and columns (to supposedly accelerate the code?).

The problem is that my code does not converge for a w=1.

Is this a problem in the code or can this behavior be somehow explained?

Thanks, Mohsen
