how to specify the inlet turbulence kinetic energy

Can any body please help me how to specify inlet boundary condition for turbulent flow. Because it is asking for parameters like turblence reference velocity, % mean velocity, % hydraulic diameter, turbulence kinetic energy, turbulence dissipation rate.

i am trying to model water cooling jacket of a diesel engine, for that i need inlet specifications. i know the mean mass flow rate and pressure. thank you

The followings are what the CFX code is doing;

TEin=1.5*(0.037*Vin)**2,

EDin=TEin**1.5/(0.3*D)

where TEin is the turbulent kinetic energy at inlet, EDin is its dissipation rate at inlet, Vin is the inlet velocity and D is the inlet length scale such as the hydraulic diameter. The value 0.037 (3.7%) is the turbulence intensity and you can change it. I hope this helps.

Good luck,

Halim
