Hi all,

What subjects (textbook or online document references are helpful) does one need to know in order to understand the fundamentals of and begin the practice of combustion engineering?

Particular subject area: Combustion in gas turbines

Thank you,
Shaun

My suggestion is S.R.Turns "An introduction to combustion".
It is the first book I read on combustion and I found it well explained. There are other books out there that might be a bit (or far) more advanced.

For the specific topic of gas turbine combustion you could check out the book by Lefebvre "Gas turbine combustion".

Cheers.

any thermodynamics book will have a chapter or two on basic combustion. And, from my experience, those chapters deal with gas turbines as opposed to rocket fuel.

good luck
