vortex line

Hi friends,

I did not understand the concept of vortex line. The velocity vector lies on the plane and the vorticity vector lies normal to the plane. So what is the meaning of stretching and bending of the vortex line due to velocity vector.

Thanks

Re: vortex line

Stretching and bending is a 3D phenomenon. From your description it sounds like you are thinking two-dimensionally. In 3D the vorticity vector is not always perpendicular to the velocity.
