Question about LES

Hi

When refine the grid. the LES result changes. That means the result is grid dependent. But why engineers' still working with that grid?

Best,
lnk

For implicit filtering LES the grid refinement changes the filter measure and consequently the filtered velocity, the asymptotic solution being the DNS one.

For explicit filtering LES, the grid refinemente reduces the local truncation error of scheme and the solution converges to a filtered solution, not to the DNS

Engineers (that practically use only implicit filtering LES) work with the grid the consider quite fine to resolve the energy containing structure for their problem.
