Ale formulation

Is there any one working with ale formulations for FSI problems. I'm traying to programing my own cfd code using ALE formulation. One of my main problems focuses on the itegration over the domain since it changes continuously. If anyone could help me it would be apreciated.

Re: Ale formulation

Dear Edurado,

I am not working in the filed of FSI, but I work on unsteady aerodynamics though. The essential requirements your CFD code must have with respect to unsteady problems are

1. Satisfy the GCL, as it is important for FSI in particular 2. Grid motion/deformation strategies, as you would consider in any FSI problem. 3. Dual Time stepping techinique, to accelarate the convergence by making use of all known steady-state acceleration convergence tools in the framework of a pseudo-steady problem.

You could refer to the works of Venkatakrishnan & Mavriplis, Ann Gaitonde, Antony Jameson and John T Batina and the references therein for more information on the issues listed above.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Ganesh
