DSMC results of low-Mach flow over circular cylinder
I am currently studying the flow over blunt bodies in the slip-flow and transitional regime (Knudsen number >0).
For benchmark purposes in the rarefied regime, DSMC (direct simulation monte carlo) is the numerical approach of choice. I found a ton of papers with DSMC calculations for the super- and hypersonic flow over circular cylinders, but not a single calculation for low-Mach flows. I know, the computational cost of a DSMC scales with Ma^-2, so it is natural that there are more results for Ma>>1. But in the last few years, variance reduction Methods for DSMC were developed (like IPDSMC or LVDSMC) that remove the Ma^-2 dependency. Unfortunately, the authors of these methods only tested their codes for channel flows (Couette and Poiseuille). So here is the question: Does anyone have DSMC-like results for the low-Mach flow over circular cylinders or knows where they are to be found? Many thanks in advance. |
It would already help if someone knew that there are no such computations available so far.
